As we continue to explore the digital version of Colt Express, you have a chance to sink deeper into the Colt Express universe! Today we learn more about the story of the game and the characters.
11th of July, 1899: 10 A.M. The Union Pacific Express has left Folsom, New Mexico, with 47 passengers on board. After a few minutes, the sound of rapid footsteps is heard, coming from overhead; and then, gunshots. Heavily armed bandits are mercilessly robbing honest citizens of their wallets and jewellery! Will the bandits be able to keep a cool head and dodge bullets? Will they succeed in stealin’ the Nice Valley Coal Company’s weekly payroll, stored in strongboxes that are closely watched by Marshal Samuel Ford? Only one bandit will achieve his goal: becoming the richest outlaw of the gang.
Each game opens with this story of six bandits boarding the back of a train and working to finagle their way to the most loot, with the lions share located in the engine. In the Classic and Online mode, players select a character and face the other bandits in a race to collect more wealth than the other gang members.
The characters’ story
However, if you want to learn more about the characters, you can enjoy the Story Mode. Throughout six stories, each divided into five chapters, you will be immersed in the adventures of each character, discovering the origins of the bandits and their motivations for becoming outlaws. An exclusive comic strip, unlocked in the game, will revisit the significant moments of their lives.
Here for the first time, the first page of the comic, which begins with Belle’s story:
It’s time for an interview with Sylvain Libert, the lead programmer working with Frima, the development team working on Colt Express Digital.
What do you bring to the digital version of Colt Express?
My experience and my love for video games.
What was the most important step on the project, in your opinion?
I wanted to ensure that we reproduced the same pleasure with the digital version than we have when we play to the board game.
Were there any big challenges for you in the project?
Not yet, but the game is still in development, so I won’t count our chickens before we finish the whole game!
Why do you like working on the digital adaptation of Colt Express?
I already think the board game is excellent but I’m more excited to help people play the digital version because it brings so many more possibilities than the board game allows.
What part of Colt Express Digital do you think is the most innovative?
The Story mode, with all the fun new game mechanics! I won’t say more for now, but we are having so much fun adding them.
Why is Colt Express different from the other games?
I’m not an expert in board games, aside from Monopoly and Scrabble, but what I can say is that this game immediately appealed to me.
With a story set at the time of the Wild West, it opens the door to all the exciting possibilities you can imagine!
What games are you playing these days?
Pokemon Go and Geometry Dash. I’m more a console and pc gamer.
What are your inspirations in your work?
Everything I can get my hands on, but mainly movies and games.
Do you have anything else you want to add?
I hope you will take pleasure in playing Colt Express as much as my team and I have taken pleasure in making it!
